If you go with Privacy Guard you can check every day and get a Privacy Guard score based on the information from your Equifax report. They have a 90 day trial for $1, $89 per year thereafter. You can get the other two scores for $10 each time.

You can also do the Experian Credit Expert for $60 or $70 per year. You can check daily and get an Experian score each day too. It will keep track of your score as it progresses (hopefully) over time.

I personally have both and check each day until I am less active in my credit repair and settlement paying situations.

How often you should check depends on your own personal situation and if you are trying to obtain credit anytime soon, if you have items that need to be fixed, etc. Every 6 months should be fine for the average person. Nobody here is average though. :D

DH & I both use Privacy Guard and check daily. We also signed up for the EQ & EX 30 day trials and used those and canceled at 30 days. For both of us Privacy Guard is current so we have decided to pay for the service after the trial period to continue monitoring. DH had about 9 items drop off of EQ so we went ahead and purchased a new report so that we would have proof in case they try to reinsert the items at a later date. We will probably pull individual reports quarterly from here on unless we see major changes through privacy guard. One nice thing is that if your disputes cause changes in your report, the CRA will send you a new report so you don't have to purchase one. The only bad thing is that you don't get the score.
