lisak72
Okay, maybe a stupid question, but these student loans all have account numbers that include #1-6 then my ss#. If I dispute these as not mine, aren't they just gonna look at it and say "duh, your ss# is the same as the acct#...that's yours!"? I have them listed in dispute with one CRA right now as "not knowledge of having an account with this company"....yeah, basically same as not mine, but I figured maybe putting this in instead of using the drop down menu might force them to actually go the OC. Any thoughts here?
morrow
Give it a shot! You never know! And besides, even if it comes back verified, you can always dispute something else within the account next time! ALWAYS start with *not mine*

Saying not mine is simply saying that I don't have an account with these people. Just because they use your social security number doesn't mean that you owe them money, or had an account with them.An example, take a company like "Household Bank." They must do credit cards for 100 different companies (Best Buy, GM, etc..). So, Household will have your number on file. That doesn't mean that you have an account wtih every company. So, don't worry about it. The CRA can't simply say, "Your social is on it, so it must be yours." They have to contact the creditor/collector and find out for sure.
lisak72
Thanks for that Brass and all! Just has me thinking too much on all this, especially when its six different student loans they are reporting. Guess it never hurts to try anything...that's what I have to keep reminding myself! I've saved these for round 2 cause I have bigger fish to fry, but now that some of those are disappearing, I'm venturing on to these. They are really the last of the negs that I can do anything about. I have tried on this repo twice now, and both times it has come back updated with EX within a week!!! It's really honking me off! I've already got disputes in at TU on all six loans, disputed just two on EX and haven't sent anything yet to EQ cause my 1st round just ended with them (due to forced snail mail....blaaaahhhh)! Thanks again for the input!
