sunshine
Can you tell me what should be deleted and what should'nt, I am pretty new here and from what I read deletions are not always good...I would like to know just in case I come into a situation and they opt to delete it instead of update it? Thanks again for all your help...
sisflomi
You don't want anything neg on your report at all really. The thing is, somethings that are really old and have negs might be helping your score more than hurting because of the age of the account. You really need to tell us whats in the reports and then we can help you determine what is best to dispute and what is not. If you have old accounts and they are in good standing, but maybe the date is wrong or it says open when its really closed, you would want to leave them alone for now. If you dispute them, they will prob be deleted, so not only will you lose an old account, but a good account too. Tell us what you have and let us try and help you. Here is some stuff to look for. Collections, charge offs, late pays, high balance with low credit limits. These are all things that will make your score lower in most cases. morrow
collections and charge-offs and things of that nature are best when thier deleted. If you have an account that just has a few late pays then you can either write a goodwill letter to the OC or you can take the chance of disputing the lates with the CRA as *never late* sometimes they end up deleting the whole account and not just the late pays.Thats happened to me.Welcome and good luck! sunshine
My mortgage I am fighting because of 4 lates on it and it is making it difficult to get a loan, but what your saying is the charge off's and the collection accouts are ok to delete but CC and other loans being active or inactive should stay because of the history on them? sunshine
and I am also trying to get them to erase all the creditors that pulled my Credit Report without my authorization... there is like 29 of them...Im mad about it
sisflomi
Just depends on how old they are. The older the account the more it will hurt to get them deleted. Have you disputed the late pays yet with the cras?
sisflomi
Which section of your report are the inqs in? Soft or hard? And which report has them on there?
sunshine
My Charge Offs and Collection date back to 1997 and my lates for the bank were from 2002 I have mailed a letter to the Bank and Disputed with all three CRA's on that one.. I am not sure what you mean by a soft or hard inq.? Sorry
ADSOFT
It also makes it easier to delete things if you delete names and addresses that you don't use/haven't used in a whiile.I'm sure MORROW & SIS., will explain it to you.You might also try a goodwill letter to your lender, if they don't change any negitives you can always included them in your application for your new loan.Good luck
sisflomi
Ad is right, you do want to dispute with the cra's any old address or names and make sure all your persoanl info is correct. Just say not me, never lived there. I think you can call and do this. You can dispute online with equ for some of the personal. I think writting a letter got me the best results for this. As for hard and soft, I need to know where you got your report to tell you where to look for each on the reports. A hard inq is when you apply for credit, or there is a collection agency looking at your credit. A soft inq is when you pull your own credit or creditors that you already have an account with are checking in and reviewing what your credit looks like now. Soft also has inqs for pre-approved offers of credit. None of the softs will hurt your credit at all. Your reports should have two sections for inqs. It should say just what each inq is. Like the inqs below are seen by all or the inqs below are only seen by you.
sisflomi
And, there is a different way to get the inqs off of each of the 3 cras. So which one has the 29 on it?

AR, PRM, things like that. They are soft. EU is end user and its a third party that is pulling for another lender. Any that say Equifax or ID, they are all soft. If you call Equifax and say I didnt apply for credit with these companies, they should be taken off in a matter of a week. Just say, hmmmmmm, I don't recall applying for credit with abc co, please remove from my report. Experian, most folks have a hard time getting them to do investigaion on inqs. If you dispute them they have to look into them. I have not done this myself yet, but you can write them a letter, or look for all the phone numbers here for exp and call and keep calling till you get someone to delete them for you.Transunion, if you go to www.worthknowing.com you can get a free report a few times a day. Right now they are having trouble and not finding everyones reports. It is being told that they are still puting a soft inq on your report even if you don't see the report yourself. So, go there, sign up, try to get in, when you are done with wk, go to my account, then delete the info and thats how you can get a new one again and again on the same day. If it says it can't find you, just delete the same way and start again with sign up. What is supposed to happen, (i have had 18 hards gone now) is the hards start to get b.u.m.p.e.d. off your report because theres not enough room to hold all the hards and all the softs. Hope this has helped. You can write a letter to TU also and ask them to investigate. It could take a few weeks of doing soft pulls to get them to start knocking the hards off. sunshine
Thanks so much for the information, I just checked my CR but it looks like what TU did when it stated they updated my account is just apply Paid to the accounts that have been paid but they still show in the collections section of the report..I am not sure if this is what they mean by updating the accout..it doesnt show that is still being investigated like the other 3...thanks again
sisflomi
It sounds like they have updated to paid and are going to leave the accounts on your report. Still bad bad bad. Did you dispute them as Not Mine?
sunshine
No but that is my next step...Gosh I have learned so much from this board in a short period of time (like 3 days) I really do appreciate all the support and information you all give, I knew there was a place to go for this problem, I am so happy I came here... sisflomi
Next question is, did you buy the reports or get them from each of the credit reporting agencies? Did you get one single report with all 3 together? Have you signed up with privacyguard?

sunshine
I paid for each report from each CRA and what is Privacy Guard? I dont have it...should I?
sisflomi
Privacyguard.com is a 3n1 report. You get to use it for 1.00 for 3 months, and you can pull a fresh report daily. Some like it some dont. Its good that got all three from each cra. What I like about privacyguard is you can see if they are working on moving these negs off your reports. And it is supposed to add to the soft inqs on your 3 reports helping with more b.u.m.p.s. with Transunion and Equifax. (nothing works for experian) What you can do is this, go online to each place you got your report from and start a dispute online. ReMeMbER this though, get your personal info corrected before you start to dispute. If the disputes that you have were linked to an old address or name, it will give you a better chance to get the stuff off your reports. Make sure your name, address, ss#, spouse, dl#, everything personal is correct. Again, you can try and call or you can write a letter to make this happen. Always remember this too, when you dispute online, make sure you print out anything that you need to, as proof of dates and things you asked to be investigated. They have 30 days to do the investigation and 5 business days to mail the results to you. After you get the personal information taken care of, then you can go back online put in the file numbers you have, and send off disputes. If you dont' want to do this online, you can send them a letter and send it Certified Return Receipt Mail. Make sure you do it crrr so that you have proof of dates again, the investigation starts the day they sign for the letter. Make sure when you start to dispute the actual accounts that you start with saying, no knowledge of account or not mine.
