laura66
Do inquiries of any age affect your score, or just within the last 6 months, 1 year, 2 years? Only hard inquiries need to be deleted, right?
morrow
Yeah, only hard ones need to be taken off. As for them having a bigger effect on your credit, with the most recent ones, I dont know exactly what the difference is.No inquiries is best. Try gettin them off if you can! Ravenous Wolf
The Fair Isaac Corporation has all their secrets to their mathematical model locked up tighter than the vault at Fort Knox.Nobody knows for sure the value of an inquiry, but generally speaking, the most recent, the worst it is. Too many of them all at one time, and alerts pop up. One alert on my credit report said:Five inquiries in the past 30 days. And it is also a factor code to improve your score. In addition, the Fair Isaac Corporation states that the average number of inquiries per consumer is only a mere ONE per year.A simple deduction from that statement tells us that multiple inquires are bad news...----The Truth! laura66
Thanks! I printed out the list and I will call tomorrow with my inquiries! Do you dispute all in one phone call, or just one per phone call? Does it work to dispute inquiries that obviously resulted in a new account being opened? morrow
Here guys, this letter worked for TU but I tried it on EX (before we knew the secret way) and they didnt like it as much.Dear TransUnion,I am very distraught that you have reported unauthorized credit inquiries on my credit report. They do not belong to me. I have made several attempts to contact the company who was listed as pulling my credit with no success. I have called your office twice to have this matter investigated. I was told both times that you do not investigate inquiries. When I informed your customer service representative that according to the FCRA, the credit reporting agency is obligated to investigate everything that I dispute, including inquiries, she told me there was no such law.I beg to differ: [TAB]611. Procedure in case of disputed accuracy [15 U.S.C. § 1681i][TAB](a) Reinvestigation of disputed information. [TAB](1) Reinvestigation required. [TAB](A) In general. If the completeness or accuracy of any item of information contained in a consumer's file at a consumer reporting agency is disputed by the consumer and the consumer notifies the agency directly of such dispute, the agency shall reinvestigate free of charge and record the current status of the disputed information, or delete the item from the file in accordance with paragraph (5), before the end of the 30-day period beginning on the date on which the agency receives the notice of the dispute from the consumer. As you are no doubt aware, there is a law that backs this up. I have tried previously to get this matter resolved with your company. Unfortunately my patience is running thin. I insist that you remove the following inquiries from my credit files or you can expect a lawsuit to be filed and numerous complaints to be made with the Better Business Bureau and the FTC.I have disputed these inquiries with the other two major credit reporting agencies with no problem what so ever. They not only investigated the inquiries but they also removed them, very promptly might I add. Im curious as to why your company is having such a problem with these few small items.Creditor[TAB]Date of inquiryblah blah blah 01/01/01Please delete the above inquiries as soon as possible. Thank you in advance.morrow
Ravenous Wolf
Thanks Morrow... I didn't realize how many posts are on here...Did you add an extra paragraph?I tweaked mine a little bit.I shot two off to TU (one almost four weeks ago and another today for different inquiries). I am still waiting to see how TU reacts.I also shot one off to EX but I got their typical "Go [EXPLETIVE DELETED] Yourself" form letter. That secret method you had described (again buried back in those previous posts) scares the hell out of me. I am actually waiting for some updates on balances for EX to show a better utilization. One of my credit unions uses EX and I am going to ask for a credit line increase once I can get balances down a bit, hence I don't want to take a chance on a fraud alert with EX. daktwink
Will this help with car loan inquiries? I know they say that they don't count them all but I have doubts and some car places went to several places trying to get me approved
FICOfocused
Thanks for that letter Morrow, I was looking back to find this type of letter as well, and just couldn't locate it. I do so much better with letters, these credit people have flustered me a few times on the phone (I get so angry I stop making sense and suddenly I can't even remeber what FCRA stands for though before I was on the phone I could quote entire paragraphs!) Thanks !

Many times, you'll apply one time for a loan, and it will be forwarded to several institutions who will pull your report. So, you only applied once, but will end up with 10 inqs.
