C Whitney
Everyone one here has been so helpful. I have improved Fico from a dismal 497 to 588 in just a few weeks using the things I have learned here. The only negs I have left on my CR are some lates from Cap 1 and an old tradeline that I want to leave because it is the oldest (7 years, all others are 1-3 yrs) My biggest problem is high bal. on all cards. I know I must pay them and I am working on getting them all down to a reasonable balance. But the Cap 1 lates, I wrote to Cap 1 via PF and they wrote back saying they couldn't delete the lates because they are "bound" by law under the FCRA to report only 100% accurate information on my CR. OUCH! I thought that was our line! Now what do I do? Do you think I should try another goodwill letter or dispute with the CRAs? Did I make a mistake by asking them to delete all the lates at once? (there are 5 lates on two different accounts) I know I can't do much about the lenghth of my credit history so I think it is important thatI clear up these lates... HELP! morrow
Dude, all I can say is keep sending those GW letters! Whether its through PFB or written, keep sending them and hopefully the right person will help you out.It took me a couple times with Sears, but eventually I got all my lates taken off!I forgot, did you say you've disputed these accounts with the CRAs as never late?Use that as a last resort, cause sometimes they end up deleting the whole account and if you dont have much credit this could come back and kick you in the a$$! ADSOFT
Well, people have had a lot of success with the goodwill letters, I have'nt tried them because I have other fish to fry at the moment, but. I'm not a big fan of credit cards but I'm starting to learn how to use them against each other, I would try to get another card that is more consumer/customer service oriented and apply there and transfer the balance or get a cash advance and start paying off CAP-ONE. I'm going to threaten to close one card, my business card, it doesn't show up on my personal in next 20 days unless they bring down my interest rate and give me an advance, then in 3 months I'm closing my personal CAP-ONE and moving on to brighter shores!!!! Better cards, better termsI hope that helps.

He's pretty professional, and will work with you somewhat, but I don't think you'll be able to get him to remove any lates. You might try sending a goodwill letter to them snail mail, it might end up with a different person.I'd try that, and then dispute with the CRAs, but CapOne is notorius for great record keeping.Good luck to you.
