Department Store Card?

Here's an interesting question. I currently have three credit cards that have all been maxed out and then paid down to zero as part of my credit rebuilding plan. According to the following link:

http://www.creditinfocenter.com/creditreports/scoring/scoringinfluences.shtml

Having a department store card and a major credit card together will get you another 11 points on your FICO score. It also notes that the number of revolving credit lines wont hurt you as long as it's between 3 & 5. My question is, should I take the hit on the inquiry to get my total available credit up and have a department store card to boot? Tough call. Sure could use some advise. Thanks.

Yes mam! I got my EQ update in the mail yesterday confirming that it was no longer!

Let me get this straight, you applied for the card and immediately got the inquiry deleted? Where's the link? Too cool.

I applied for the card on a Sunday, got approved :D

Inq showed up on Monday :( I immediately called and disputed the inq (before the new account could be reported on my CR)

It was GONE within a week! So now it looks like I got the card without ever applying!

DAMN IM GOOD! :p

TARGETS THE SHIZ-NIK!! (and because they only pull your EQ report, so if you get denied you can just get the inq removed quick like a bunny)

Morrow... Due you think I can get approved w/ a 650 or so and a public record. I will have a couple C/O's faling off soon and need one dept. store card. Teaget is right around the corner from me. I would like to get one cause of the new crib and you're right! It's the Shee-nit! :D

And that is cool that they pull just from EQ...

I started off with the Target card cause apparently after just a few months of making on time payments they will upgrade you! :D

Im not so sure I would call Target a *dept store* more like just a fancy Wal-Mart :)

Yeah it is cool that they only pull from EQ, Im lovin EQ at the moment!

So you got your Target card upgraded? That's sweet...I may just have to go for that route. I too am looking for a department store card that I know pulls from EQ since that is my best score.

Is it listed on you DH CR and if so is it opened or closed? (I know you said you didnt activate it)

You might want to check, I had a JC Penney account that I havent used in years and just recently found out its still open (havent used it in years) I just called and requested a new card.

I dont think that if you were to apply that you would get a funky message like that though. :p Its worth a shot!
