karmicways
I sent one of those letters (I think I got the letter from here) to GECCCC telling them that they need to remove their inquiry off of my credit report, as I have not applied for any credit cards.I get a letter in the mail today saying they are unable to process my inquiry wihtout a valid card services account number.Duh! I don't have one! If I had, the inquiry would have been for permissible purposes.I included my name and SSN, that should be all they need, right? DocDon
Yes it should. Welcome to the world of automatic responses and poor customer service. I had the same thing happen with Citi. "Well, sir, I need your account number to be able to see when we pulled the inquiry..." Some people just can't think on that level. Makes me wonder how they find their way home. insider
What you will want to do is get the address of the company's credit dept. They will then research. Tell them they will need to verify you applied. When they cannot do this, they only have one choice...remove from your credit report. You also will want to cc the credit bureau. When you have it in writing, there is no disputing the 30 day period
