Well, have finally gotten off my rear and work on my credit. I want to buy a Condo within the next year or so.

I got a report from Equifax and it shows a FICO score of 642.

My balances on my cards are close to $13,000.00 on about 8 different cards.

I am in the fortunate position of being able to pay this all down next month. Anyone have an idea of how this will effect the score?

Also, looking back at some of the accounts, I noticed I have like (23) 30 day lates and (3) 60 day lates on on a Sears account.

The last time shown as it being late is 12/2000.

I put some cards on the CCCS program in 02/1999. Sears is one of them.

It seems as the payments on that card somehow, according to Sears, got in a cycle of being 1 month late.

I have been going through Auriton Solutions which does my CCCS stuff. I have a list of when payments were sent to Sears. There is one every single month since 02/1999.

Whats funny, is that if this was the case, I would STILL be behind on payments to this day but have not been since 12/2000.

I have only one other 30 day late and that is on another account with a date of 02/1999, the month I started on the program.

I have no other negatives, just 2 hard inquiries in the last 12 months and those will be off in the next month asIt will then have been a year.

Any advice on what to do about the Sears fiasco and how my situation looks?

Thanks guys and gals! :)

This will definatley affect the scores big time! Don't pay off all cards, like keep a minimum balance like $50 on a few just to affect the utilization part of the score for best results.

For lates, write good will letters to the creditors asking their consideration, pointing out that you are a good customer and that you have since paid as agreed. That for what ever reason (medical / work related...) that for that period of time you had problems making on time payments. But you have since improved, and would they please consider removing the lates off of your credit report, since you will be applying for a mortgage loan in the near future and this is currently affecting your ability to get approved for the best possible loan.

I put some cards on the CCCS program in 02/1999. Sears is one of them.

If you are no longer in the program, contact the original creditor to ask them to remove the notation referring to the CCCS program since you have completed this - and that it is suppose to be removed apon completion.

It seems as the payments on that card somehow, according to Sears, got in a cycle of being 1 month late.

This was most likely the fault of the CCCS company, and I would still try a good will with the creditor pointing this out.

Actually inquiries stay on the credit report for 2 years, but fade out of the scoring after 1 year.

Oh yea, start picking on my poor panda, 1st she was not good enough, to be on the girls gone wild calander. :dep:

And then to be mistaken for male. :boggle:

I get that all the time, people mistaking my call sign for a male dirived name. But to settle it once and for all. KB9TBQ is ham radio call sign. The last letters of the call sign always get pinned for a nick name. And someone tagged mine to mean: THE BLONDE QUEEN.

So it is settled both me & the panda are females. :p  :p

~LOL!! Your pandas adorable..I don't think my sway-backed horse would hit the calendar either!

I had a friend teaching me ham radio many years ago (ok a decade maybe?) it was pretty neat. I also did the whole cb radio craze and was handled 'Purple Chicken' by my friends..why? no clue...LOL!!

Now do you live up to you name Blond Queen? I AM blond and am both queen and king around my house!

:D

Yes I am blonde, but the funny part is that I am Hispanic part Irish. I am so pale, I know on the Irish side there had to be an albino hiding somewhere in the family. Cause I can't stand being in the sun. BURN BURN BURN!!!

I am just a no code, just got my foot in the door, but I also run on CB and go by NightStar. Funny my sister got tagged with FrogLegs <snicker>, very good idea to pick your handles before someone tags you like I had happen with my call sign.

One day a year, the local club has a emergency field day, where for 24 hours, the members run the radio competing to make the most contacts possible. I got hooked on 6 meter radio that way. Only problem is that there is a 7 year sun cycle (during the off years, you are stuck with radio that dose not pick up anything).

There are plenty of other great activates involved with this hobby, contests; ham fests; clubs. Plus it is not all about working radios, some hook into the computer and my first contact was on slow scan TV through 2 meter, that was pretty cool.

The great part of it, was that DH & me belonged to ESDA Storm Watch for our area. So during bad storms, we were spotters for tornado warnings. Never to fond of the lightening though.

~Hey kb...tornados?? Where are you located? I am in what is dubbed 'tornado alley' in Oklahoma...not from here though originally, so it can be mighty scary.

A blond Hispanic? That must be funny explaining your family line and heritage! I'm just your ol' run-of-the-mill German, French, and Pollack :D

I cannot remember much about the signals and strengths for the radio..I do remember speaking to someone over in Europe with a strong accent..lots of crackling an silent dead spots... SOunds like you have a cool hobby!

Illinois here, had some come through already this year, but an hour south of us. Where I live, there is something strange about our location (the tornados, just keep skirting around us). One town 15 minutes away got hit 2 years in a row on the same exact day. One house got picked up and set right on its side perfectly intact (no one was home at the time). But it sure was a site to see.
