techgoddess
I don't know if this is due to bumpage or not. I recently disputed all of my inquiries on TU (by fax.) The only thing I've received from TU since then is their standard, "we got your letter" letter (nothing saying that you can't dispute inquiries or anything like that.) Sooooooo, my fax might have worked, but I'm guessing it's just bumpage because the four most recent stayed and the rest dropped off. It's still super-cool, though!BTW, the same thing happened on DH's TU report. He's down to 6 (from 16).[Edit by techgoddess on [TIME]1056385620[/TIME]]
FICOfocused
Congrats! I am still waiting to see the success of bumpage myself, glad to hear another success story
md
That is awesome!!! I just had the same thing happen to me late last week. Now I need to contact some OCs and get their inquiries changed to soft and maybe threaten them some for making them hard in the first place since I had accounts with them at the time. Anonymous
Are you using Privacy Guard for the bumpage, WK or both? Approximately how many reports have you ordered to get the bumpage? How long did it take?I have seven hard inquiries on TU that I'd love to kill. I know this is impossible to predict, but does anyone have any kind of idea how much my score might improve if these were gone? (i.e. is there a forumla -- a couple of points per hard inquiry, etc.) I'm at approx. 700 now and only have one negative entry. Thanks.
Anonymous
Which fax number are you using -- the one in California, the one in PA or both?
md
It is impossible to say how many points each inquiry is worth. It depends on several variables, and especially what else is on your CR. The older the inquiry the better, especially older than 6 months and even more so if older than a year. People here have generally said around 3-5 points per inquiry. Anonymous
Ok, this sounds like a dumb question, but I am new to this and I really do not understand "bumping" and how to do it... basic steps, please... I don't feel intelligent in this area, but I am really trying!!!We are 18 months into a Chapter 13 and I need to know what else I should be doing besides checking credit reports. We want to refinance our house to take advantage of the lower rates, but have been told (so far) that we have to be into the process 2 years before it would be approved. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated... Thanks!
robotprom
I wouldn't mind a primer on how to bump inquiries using PG.
paw67
By pulling your report daily through PG (Privacy Guard) or WK (Worthknowing) after a while, you should start to see the hard inquiries get "bumped" off. DH & I started pulling PG daily at the end of March/beginning of April and it took us roughly 45 days to start bumping inquiries. I had 8 on EQ and 2 on TU and he had 3 on EQ & 2 on TU. All of his have been bumped off and all but 1 of mine are gone (it should be gone within a week if all goes well). If we could only figure out a way to bump them off of EXP I would be thrilled. I don't know what effect bumping them has had on FICO but on my PG score I have gained 2 to 3 points for each inquiry that has dropped.Good luck!paw67

I have like 10 in dispute now, and it only took one phone call. I also have 20 in dispute with EQ. TU is the only CRA that I still don't have the nads to call yet. I have read some things here that makes me not want to call TU.
firstsource
FOR NOW WHAT:To give you an idea, this info is from one lender, and everyone is different:BK13-500 score-under 12 months file date 65%LTV Rate is 8.75 24 months 8.65 36 months 8.25 over 36 months 8.05Other things happen at that time also, that bring the rate down and the LTV upat over 12 months you can go up to 80% LTVat over 24 months and up to when the BK is dismissed, up to 85%. Of course your FICO goes up over time, etc. There are a LOT of sub-prime lenders-so this is just a guideline of what happens.Charles

I am selling my house but I have recently had my bk discharged.Last week i received paper work that looks routine. One form is asking me whether I not i have filed for bankruptcy or do i have an lawsuits or judgements pending. What I do not understand is why the escrow companyis asking me this. It is none of their business. I am only selling my home and I am not looking to buy now.If i chek the box indicating no previous bk, how would they find out I ever filed? And if I sell the ho,;jme will they tell the trustee,, oh by the way mr so and so now has 40k to pay his discharged debtors.
Anonymous
Are you sure their time didnt just expire on the older inq's and they fell off your report???? Or you are sure it was bumpage or your letter that did the trick??
techgoddess
I know that none of my inquiries were old enough to fall off on thier own. As an update, DH and I both now have zero TU inquiries and I haven't gotten the results of our dispute letters back so I'm still not sure if it was bumpage or not. So, grand total, I started out with 20 inquiries (2 were aged off) and DH started with 18 inquiries (1 was aged off.) I will definitely let everyone know when I hear back from TU about my letters. Waxworks
I had 26 INQs on TU, and 15 on EQ, and as of this morning, I got 5 on TU, and 3 on EQ......Ain't life grand?
sisflomi
If it was from B.u.m.p.a.g.e. tech, they will send you a letter that says, thanks for requesting an investigation, but abc company is not on your report at this time.
firstsource
FOR GODHELPME. I actually ask him to bless me everyday, but helping will work also. They are just trying to find out if there are going to be any "hidden" claims on you that have ended up liens on the property. So if you went BK-and someone "goofed" the liens could still be in place. If you have judgements "in the works", same thing. They don't want to close on 1 day, and 5 days later, when it is too late to do anything about it, have a judgement show up that had been delayed in the paper work. I did a purchase for a client long ago, where we discovered at the final title search-(was missed in the prelim title) that there was a lien against him for a judgement that did not get satisfied on paper from a BK. It just seems that they are covering themselves legally for potential problems. Tell the truth on these things. Now, until you get into another home, keep copies of all rental payments-and make them by check or by money order. You may think at this point that you will never buy again, but in 3 years you may change you mind, and this will be a great habit to have.
