Account deleted when all I said was never late?

I just checked my TU report, since the 30 days was up. One of my accounts that is still open with a zero balance had a bunch of lates on it, including a 60 day late. I disputed it as never late and today the account was gone. What stinks even more, is that I was expecting the score to change, and it didn't...

The account was a Macy's card... I haven't used it in a really long time... but I do have a question....

What happens if I go to Macys and buy something... when the bill comes in, I would think that they would report it.. now that the account is gone, what happens. Will it reappear with all the bad stuff... or will it just show up like a new account.

Thanks

Mark

I don't know the answer to your question but I disputed an account w/Macy's as not mine and I received an response back stating they could not verify that the was not mine and they may consider turning me over to an collection agency. Consider yourself lucky.

The reason it did not affect the scores, was that this must of been a really old account, it is possible that should you re-use the card, it would be updated and pull the old information back in.

Question: When was the most recent late on the account? accounts with lates can be re-abilitated in time, to go back to positive reporting. It would be a shame to bump it off for good when it is still open, and has a long established history to contribute positively to the scores.

Well the table might show past 2002, but in a year or so, it should drop off the recent table reporting. And it is not a part of the immediate status (so that is good).

You can always send a good will letter to this company in light of your paying as agreed on the account, and getting it back into good standing to see if they do re-report it, that they would be kind to remove all late listings.

It can still be saved, or re-abilitated.
