I sent a ltr to Equifax in reference to my mortgage. My CR originally showed my mortgage as current but also said it was included in my bk in 1999. I sent a ltr saying this was not included in bk. Now I got update from them and they've deleted my mortgage completely. Now what !!! This will decrease my debt to income ratio but now it no longer reflects that I was always paying and paying on time. What do I do? I would think this is one creditor I want to show.

This credit report is a mess, but I need to handle one problem at a time !!!

Thanks for any input.

Are you still paying this mortgage? If so, it will be reported back to your report the next month the OC updates it. If not, then you will want to call the lender and ask if they can re-ad it back on the way it should be reported. Good accounts should generally report for 10 years.

Yes the mortgage is still being paid. Here's another situation that may come into play. This original mortgage 1996 has just been refinanced with the same mortgage company at a much lower rate. The CR should reflect the old mortgage as paid and a new mortgage should appear as it has a diff. acct. #. Am I correct ??? I do want both of these to appear. Right??

My writing letters to CRA's all started when I tried to refinance and my mortgage rep told me the report showed mortgage included in bk. She knew I had been paying and advised to write to CRA.

If these should both show on CR should I just try to get the lender to correct or the CRA? Thank you.

Yes, they should both show up as two different accounts. And yes, it will be good for them both to show, one closed with no lates and good pay history can only help your score. Second one will hurt your score when it first reports, but over time it will come back up and even out and add some to the score.

Yes, do your best to get the oc to report this the way it is supposed to be reported. It sounds like the person you are dealing with knows what they are doing, it is really their responsibility to report this correctly. The cra is only reporting to the report what the oc reported to them. I had the same problem with jet skis that I had re-affirmed with. It got so bad at one point the oc just deleted the entire account.
