Anonymous
I am about to start the process of cleaning up my husband's credit report. From what I have been told by the bank, it's bad...including tax liens and several collections/charge-offs. Although there are a few open, revolving accounts, they have all just recently been paid (including items gone to CA's). Basically, there is NOTHING open and in good standing in his name. (Two cars, Visa, Texaco and one loan are in my name.)I would appreciate any advice on where to start and what NOT to do...I assume I should purchase a 3-in-1 report to get a full report, but are all of these reputable? Do these put INQ's on the report? The bank rep told me that there were two entries that appeared to be the same debt (CCB and First Bank of Marin)..Please help. I have read so many suggestions on message boards, I am concerned about disputing the items, etc.Any info would be helpful!!!! I am on a mission... Thanks
timbercreektech
Do not purchase a 3 in 1. There is not enough information to help you. You need to get individual ones.Second thing is to read and learn, be patient, and persistant. You can clean it up!Welcome aboard.[Edit by timbercreektech on [TIME]1057087351[/TIME]]
ADSOFT
Patience is a virtue, and Haste makes waste...Not trying to PREACH here but it is to true in Credit Repair. I would make sure you serously consider the following:1. Get a copy of all 3 of your reports from the CRA'S, you might have to pay the $8.00, maybe the members can recommend how to get them.2. Do not contact any CA'S you are going to be inclinded to but, you want to dispute via the CRA'S and catch them off guard. If you call them, they know that you are going to dispute and will have all the paperwork ready to verify once you dispute.3.Once you have all 3 reports in hand, CALL all the CRA'S and dispute as NOT MINE all in the same day. That way they (ca's) have to respond to all 3 CRA'S in 30 days. I hope that helps, ... In my opinion you don't have to send letters the first 30 days, some people do, but you get the frivouls responses back and al kind of other stuff???? You can always ask the CSR and make sure that the account is marked as NOT MINE, .... you are intitled to 1 NOT MINE dispute for every account. .... I hope that helps :) [Edit by ADSOFT on [TIME]1057088542[/TIME]]

Swede
As you know, I'm a big fan of doing everything via CMRRR. I know people say the phone works well and all their disputes are handled accordingly but the purpose of CMRRR is not for when things go right, but when they don't. It is your documented PROOF, instead of just your word, the the CRA's did not abide by the FCRA. Also, if the **** hits the fan and you need to go to court- as Calawyer has mentioned plenty of times- you will be in a MUCH better position to get a good lawyer to take your case if you have a well-documented caseStick with Brassfan's advice, it's good stuff..... sjones
why not do it online via the CRA's website. That's how I did mine and it was free.oh and before you start disputing the TradeLine's, I would get anyprevious addresses removed first.[Edit by sjones on [TIME]1057096251[/TIME]]

sjones
to be honest, I can't remember if there was a summary page or not with what was disputed.I know that EX has a link on their page that lets you check the status of the disputes and showsthe anticipated completion date along with what TL's are being investigated.[Edit by sjones on [TIME]1057098496[/TIME]]

Also, you're putting it directly into their system so basically you're helping them out. When you send it via snailmail, someone has to actually enter it into the system and that usually doesn't happen asap resulting in a day or so delay in the 30 days (every day helps)<blockquote>Originally posted by sjonesto be honest, I can't remember if there was a summary page or not with what was disputed. What are you going to show as proof is something goes wrong.......what will you give your lawyer, what are you showing the judge?? Not trying to be hard on you, just making a point that papertrail is KEY- there IS a reason why we say CMRRR....
