I have the worst car finance company in the world. Household Automotive. And so I took a shot in the dark to get them to remove a bunch of lates that were posting on my credit reports. Well, what do you know, they did it! I am in shock!!!!!!!!! They are so hard to work with but they did it for me. I am just in shock. WOW!

Awwww, comeon! It's fun to pay out the a$$ for a car! I've got 2 that I'm paying 21% interest on! (Aren't you jealous!)

Hee, hee, hee!

Actually, you could probably get a car right now. Just keep cranking away at your credit. The more bad stuff you get rid of, the better interest rate you'll get. Also, you'll get a better interest rate if you get a new car as opposed to a used one (which is why, once I get a house, I'm going to trade in my mini-van for a spankin' new PT Cruiser.)

Depends on the deal you get. But if you end up behind at all, expect calls all the time, nastiness and just plain rudeness. Although, like i said before, they have been a little better in the customer service department and look at what they did for me now, so I don't know what to tell you honestly. But i have been with them for 5 years now and the last 4 and 1/2 have been miserable when having to deal with them.

WOW! That's awful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah, i guess they aren't that bad. The rates right now are so good that no matter where you go, you can't get that bad of a deal. It's a buyer's market right now with the right credit.

I just got Financing from Household Auto, Noone else would seem to work with me. It's been 2 years post BK for me and banks just seem to turn the other way. I'll be paying 12.5 % Financing, Hopefully within a year I can refinance and get the rate down. Even though my FICO on EQ and TU are close to 700 the banks turn the other way because of BK.

Congratulations!

Your success is inspiring to us all. Can I ask that you tell us what you did and how did it?

Tips, pointers, and suggestions are of course always welcome!

Idon'tpay, if you're in the mid 600's, you shouldn't have much of a problem getting a car. My husband's best friend is finance manager at one of the major dealers here, and he says that an auto FICO of 660 or higher will get you into the prime interest rates. I know for some of the best programs the lenders won't allow you to have any blemishes such as collections, chargeoffs or even settled accounts, but I bet you could get into a car loan of around 9%. You are better off going to a big dealer that sells ALOT of cars, because the banks take a certain amount of higher risk loans from the high volume dealers. But in the mid 600's, you're not a huge risk anyway.

If you dispute the BK, I bet it comes off your report. I got rid of 3, 1 being from 2000. It seems like they don't verify them. like they just make you wait the 30 days and take it off. I could be wrong, but I know all 3 CRAs deleted all 3 BKs of mine, my Ex and a friends.

Its worth a shot.

Well, I wrote a goodwill letter to them. Also, I had this account listed on TU and Exp but the Eq listing was deleted. So i wrote them and asked them to put it back on. So when they wrote me back, they sent me a letter stating that they would investigate it and that they would put the accurate information back on. They also enclosed a copy of my account history and lucky for me, there was nothing under lates for that account. So I faxed that info to the CRAs and viola!, all of the lates disappeared. So i don't know if it was my fax to the CRAs or my letter to the OC. But nonetheless, all of the lates (there were 7 of them) are gone.

Well that is great news, and considerable accomplishment that they help you find out the fact of the matter on this account. Could of been either the letter you faxed or a combination of both I think. Since Equifax, would of needed OC to reinsert before having made the update you sent.

Yeah, I was shocked. Patience is definitely a virtue when cleaning up your credit but it does pay off. I have come a long way. And it's thanks to you guys!

Most of the inquiries that I knocked off of equifax (which is the bureau that is favored in my area of the country) were because I contacted the creditors myself as well as sending faxes to the bureau with the disputed inquiries.

I really need to get around to pulling my credit reports again, but just been waiting - since our mortgage won't show up for 6 months bummer, but things are chaning now, and bidding our time.

Like to take a shot at pushing unwanted inquiries off report; especially with the ones that got added by mortgage and insurance, looks terrible.

I ordered my plain TU report yesterday off their site, for free, with the denied for credit excuse, suprised at how that works quite often.

Made a token effort to out right dispute some inquiries again; but last time I used this same method and got shut down, with letter saying they could not remove, just this time in my disputes I put in that I want inquiry changed to not affect the credit scoring. Just see how TU reacts to this one.

I don't use the WK or PG method, never subscribed for there before, and not really of the mind to be adding that much data to the file, even if they are soft (superstious about a good many of them being able to add up to eventually affect the score, just now sure).

Don't consider myself to have a big, file, but afraid of running risk of split file, after seeing these on a regular basis at work with pulling reports for banks, very common. The only difference between myself and most everyone else here - is that I know how to identify these files when I see them right off the bat.

Not sure how to update my new address, since I don't want mail coming ot the house, we use PO Box, instead. I learned from all the ID Theft cases I hear, to definitely take example from my advise on that issue, lol.

I haven't tried to dispute via privacyguard. I have been pulling my report from WK but not that much. maybe once or twice a day if that. Do you know how many times you would have to pull your report before your file splits? I am really nervous about that happening.

I have updated my addresses by taking the information they have on their reports and creating a table with 2 columns, one column has the information they have on file and the other column states whether it is accurate or needs to be deleted. Has worked with all three bureaus.

I don't even pull my credit report, but once every month maybe two or three between :p

But I am not cleaning up like everyone else, just browsing from time to time, to make sure all is fine for the most part - earlier this year before my Morgage Loan went throught my FICO mortgage version scores are all in the 700's my middle one if I remeber right is 740.

But having added mortgage (not yet showing up) and having refinanced auto loan, this should help, and unlike what I have preached about the credit cards - I only have one right now - because I have a goal card I am trying to get & that is Pulaski, they have some mean underwriting requirements. And they will grant amount of CL by what they see you to already have, and compare with income. If I have to dump my one to get the best CL on Pulaski - I will do this my current card is K-mart capital one $2,000 CL @ 15% and the Pulaski I am looking at is a $50 fee per year (but the interest is 5.5% cream of the crop card.

The extra cards can be added back later - and just hope Pulaski does not review to lower CL once established :notsure:

Last round I went with them they declined me - I totally messed up on application - they graded joint debt against me, so since my mortgage & car loan are joint, I will have to clean DH's credit scores up some, then go back later & reapply for the loan (including his income to the mix).

Only problem here, is shaking DH loose of the High CL Citi Bank cards which he sits on, about $8,500 between two cards @ 12%, that won't get us the best CL with Pulaski.

So I am working on improving, it is just taking time, to try and pay off extra expenses from home purchases & get some breathing room again. Just that I work slower then others here - since my goal is ultimately PRIME rate - I don't want to settle for high rate cards (since we always carry balances over from month to month).

I am not worried about my scores, it is cleaning DH's up right now that is important - he is now in the mid 600's last I checked. I want to push him up into the 700's before going back at Pulaski (plus pay down his near maxed out cards). So this will take some time for me to accomplish.

Ah gotcha. I didn't realize you were doing so well. 740, what a dream that would be for me! I am just one of those people who really screwed up while in college and now i'm paying for it. But I have done a good job so far at trying to make things right.

My goal is for my fiance and I to buy a house this time next year. My fingers are crossed.
