hi everyone,

during christmas time, I went to my brother and his family and my purse was stolen and I never reported it to the proper authorities because there was nothing in my purpose pertaining to credit or personal information except my checkbook. I called the bank the same day and they put an alert or whatever on my account and nothing bad ever came of it. But I was wondering if I could use this as leverage when disputing information, b/c the credit people do not know all the details, and maybe some of them would feel sorry for me and delete or correct info. with no questions, well anyway I am including this in my letter to WFB.

Think in these matters you should leave out the fraud angle, and just go with regular means for disputing.

Because to back up a claim with resonable effort - you would need to complete a police report / activate fraud alert with all 3 CRAs / send disputes to the creditors & collection agnecies / and also complete id theft affidavits to show resonable effort on your part.

That would not do to good if they caught you on this matter, you could be facing charges of defrauding and purjury.

Plus - I talk to people on a regular basis about fraud - and the ones that would use fraud for credit repair / are causing problems for the ones with legit disputes - beings that the collection agencies are treating them hostile and not helping so much anymore to resolve real cases of fraud. I find very unfortunate for these people.
