TightRope
I am just getting started trying to send out DV and/or CD letters. So excuse me if these may have been answered somewhere else.I have multiple accounts, which have now been sent to CA's for collection. First, I want to get them to stop calling. Recently they have contacted some family members. Should I just send them a cease and desist letter or do I need to send a validation letter too? Since these are fairly recent accounts, I wonder how easy it might be to validate? Also, most seem to have my home and work phone numbers and home address. Is there any valid reason to establish a PO Box for my return correspondence?BTW, What happens if they actual can validate? Will the CA still have to obey the CD request? Thanks in advance. retmar
You can include a limited C&D in your DV letter. What you would say is that they may only contact you at your home through the U.S. Mail. No phone calls, including work, friends family, etc. As to them validating, if they are recent, the answer is more yes than no. But, they must thoroughly validate, not partially. TightRope
Does it really matter if I use my real home address for my correspondence? The CA's already have it...Also, does anyone have a sample C&D and DV combo letter? Thanks,
retmar
You will supply the correct home address. That way they can never come back and say you tried to elude them.Go to the top of the page and click on "sample letters".
