bizwiz41
I'm still a bit of a newbie here, so maybe the "vets" can clarify....Working on my wife's reports, she has several CA entires where we were NEVER notified or contacted. I've paid them all due to "discovery" during refinancing. At the time I was not educated enough to negotiate no reporting, or inquire. So, can a CA (or OC) report to CRAs w/o ever contacting? Doesn't this violate dispute/validity rights?
TylerDurden
Unfortunately, there are no laws against reporting prior to notifying you. Sorry...
Siren
I had a CA report me FIRST then establish first contact LATER by letter.I've learned since then that some CA's will use that tactic to make sure that they will receive a reply from you.I think that some CA's rationalize it as such: "Why bother spending time and money making phone calls, sending letters, etc that will be ignored... let's just go in for the instant kill."Especially since it hurts your credit report, even if temporarily. Most people will want it OFF.Unfair?Absolutely.
