Petunia
I have been sending a goodwill letter to CapOne about a paid CO trying to get them to report something better. I have also been disputing online with the 3 CRAs. I only got EQ to delete. But I got this letter in the mail from CapOne Customer Service telling me they were forwarding my letter to the correct department and if deemed necessary they would give me a written response. Anyone else get a letter like this from them? I am just curious if they will do anything or not. When I paid the CO they gave me another CC and I have paid the full balance I owed each month for the last six months. But somehow I doubt they will help me out. Just wondering. kb9tbq
That is interesting, I don't know as having seen anyone else mention this.I know I have heard of Capital One offering people second chances to pay off the debt owed, then having a new card to start from. I don't know all the details, but you might want to search for capital one posts to see.
Cascadesss
I have 1 30-day late with Cap1, and I have sent them several letters showing that I paid it on time. It doesn't seem to matter to them. At least I got it off of EQ, but EX and TU are still reporting it. In fact, last week TU now is reporting that it's late 2 months in a row.... Idiots!!!!!I just got the Corvette card, and am transferring all but $100 from that Cap1 card to it. The Cap1 card will sit in the desk from now on. I'm not going to close it so it keeps reporting a good TL.In 9 months, the remainder of my 3 negatives will fall off of all the CRAs. At that point I'll be able to get any of the premium cards I want, and THEN the Cap1 and Providian cards will be closed. They served a purpose, but I will throw a party when I finally get to cut them up. Cas
kb9tbq
You might try calling customer service, when you get in tell them you would like to be directed to the reporting department. And explain your problem with their reporting. See if you can't move them that way on this matter, and let them know they are looking at loosing a customer soon, if they are of the mind to take your case lightly. Sometimes that works. Petunia
That's how I paid off my CO. CapOne sent me a letter asking me to call them and set up payments. But I didn't even know I could ask them to report it as never late/paid before I got onto this website.I just thought it was strange to get a letter from them saying they would forward on my hopes of getting my CO reported in a positive status. I have read a lot about how CapOne doesn't even bother anwering goodwill letters.I have used the CapOne credit card they offered me after I paid my CO. I have always paid the balance in full each month. Maybe that will help me get my CO updated to something positive. I don't expect much from them after reading the posts here and on pfb.com, but we will see. But as soon as my credit is looking better I can find something much better. dm91497
Good Luck. I have a paid CO from 2 years ago. I sent letters to Cap One and they say the only way they will change reporting is if there was a bank error on their part. I too received the new mastercard and they gave me an auto loan I have since paid off. They just won't budge on this. I disputed through the CRA and got Equifax and TU to delete. Since, TU reinserted it and I have not been able to remove again. Do Not do business with Cap One. I cancelled everything with them this month. They prey on people who have a not perfect credit rating.
paw67
I had the same issue with Cap1. Have had the new card for just over 2 years and it is paid off. Disputed the paid CO the 1st time and it came back verified. Waited about 20-30 days and disputed it again, it is now off EQ & EXP. I'm still waiting on TU because I didn't do it at the same time. You might try just disputing it to get it removed all together. I had heard that the most they would do before was up it from an R9 to an R5, which isn't much better. Try disputing it and seeing if it just falls off.Good luck!paw67
Petunia
I have tried disputing it. On the 3rd round, EQ deleted it. TU and EX keep verifying it. I have tried disputing different things in the TL too. Just won't budge off of TU and EX. I am waiting for CHOD to try again.
