Anonymous Posted May 9, 2003 Report Share Posted May 9, 2003 I am currently trying to buy a house. When we pulled my credit I was surprised to find derogortary credt items that I never knew existed. One was from Citibank and the other two were from Sherman Aquisitions. i called Citibank and gave them the account number and they have no record of it. Yet, it is still on my credit report. What should I do? I called Sherman and they said there shouldn't be anything listed as derogatory on my report. Is there any penalty for faulty credit reporting? This is ridiculous. retmar Posted May 11, 2003 Report Share Posted May 11, 2003 Contact both of them again, hopefully the same people. Have them send you a letter stating that an account does not exist and to remove the tradelines. Then, send those letters to the CRA's. Normally I don't send CMRR to CRA's, but, in this case I would. Also, be sure to give the mortgage company copies of the letters. If, by chance, they don't, or won't send the letters, then you will file a dispute with the CRA's as "Not mine".
