bu9418
This is likely a unique situation, but I thought I would share it. An OC contacted a collection attorney some time ago, who eventually sued and obtained a default judgment against me. The problem was the judgment was obtained in a county I dont live in, and have never lived in. Upon getting notice of the judgment from the Collection Attorney I responded with a letter (certified) that his judgment was illegal and demanded that they have it vacated. I called their office, and the "person in charge of judgments and garnishments" told me to buzz off".I sued the attorney in small claims court, citing all the FDCPA violations and asked for damages to the maximum allowed in small claims (in my state it is $15,000).Within 30 days the ca offered me $1,000 to go away. I replied asking for $4,000. We settled for $2500.00.The judgment was vacated, all credit report entries were deleted.

Most people would have just got the judgement vacated. ..... So, you let them hang themselves, then you had all the proof on paper........ ????????
