Slpypup
A guy that works for me is considering using Consumer Debt Solutions to eliminate his debt. I have searched and searched for something about this company but haven't found anything. The BBB isn't showing anything bad... has anyone used them before? If so is this a scam or are they on the up and up?ThanksSleepy Pup

Slpypup
Hmmm let me guess... you guys all think that this is a scam??!! LOL Ok so how does the scam work, they aren't asking for a whole lot of money up front just the first payment of like $600. Is it that they just take your money and then never make the payments?? They're telling him that they can get him a much lower interest rate and have all of his cards paid off in 3 years. It sounds too good to be true to me but I need something to back this up.Thanks for the replysSleepypup

illegal_alien
This is my take on consolidation companies....Joe owes $1000 for credit card and he falls behindon his payments. After 75 days of non-payments,the card is now cancelled and he is behind by $150 or so..Starts getting calls from collectors (like me ).. Can't afford or doesn't want tolisten to collectors.. I keep telling Joe, we've got payment plans that will stop interest or at least lower interest...doesn't want to believe me... still on denial...well, one day he hears a sweet ad on TV about debt consolidation etc...and thinkswow they are non-profit and must be good...Fast forward 4 months.. collection calls havereduced dramatically.. thinks everything is fine..that $1000 balance is $1700 now and is reported170 days delinquient. Consolidation companies haven't made (or made sporadic) any payments in months..A year later, all accounts are charged off.. Joedoesn't know the irrepairable damaged that hasbeen done. Finally decides to do settlement forabout $1000. If he can't do settlement, he willbe paying that $40 or so forever. Collectioncompany that bought his debt is now so happy to have a willing customer. Consolidation company ishappy getting that $20/month "donation."If only Joe had listened to me!!!! heehehe (P.S. Above mentioned situation is true only if the account was in pre charge-off status. If itwas already charged-off, then balance should notgrow) [Edit by ßillcollector on Wednesday, December 11, 2002 @ 10:14 PM]
