Anonymous
Can a creditor refuse payment for a debt owed? I have been helping my mother pay medical bills from an emergency surgery that has left her diabled. she recieves 557.00 amonth from SS and is determined to pay all her bills as she always has. She didnt have insurance when she became ill. so we sent letters to everyone involved. Most of the doctors agreed to negotiate down the amount owed and agreed on a low month installment for what was left. However, one doctor never responded. We have been sending him 25.00 a month without fail for 1 year now, on the last payment they sent it back to us marked void with a nasty letter stating that it would take 26 years to pay them off and that our payment would no longer be excepted. Now what do we do?
Anonymous
that's weird, I know I would keep the letter they sent you refusing the payment. It's kinda odd the payment was okay for a whole year, then all of a sudden it wasn't, wouldn't look very good to a judge. keep all your checkstubs they cashed and keep a close eye on your credit report. I have a feeling they will turn it over to a CA. let us know how it turns out.
