georgiaboy
Certain types of liens can be placed on your property with out going to court. Materialmans liens, Mechanics leins etc. Just depends on what type of lein it is.
walfam
Thanks,Is there somewhere to find out what these type of liens are? What thier definition is & how they can be applied?
georgiaboy
If the liens have allready been placed on your property, there should be a record of it at the courthouse in your county stating what type of lien it is.For determining types of liens, try searchin lawdog.com or do a google or yahoo search on the term lien. LadynRed
A 'mechanics lien' is only placed by a contractor or subcontractor. I suspect that the type of lien a creditor would be talking about would most definitely require a judgment first, so they would have to sue you and win first. Called courthouse and was told there were no liens as of May 2003. Is there somewhere else to check. Thinking it was siding that was done in 1992? calawyer
Look at the title report again carefully. It should tell you where the lien is recorded. In many states, it is placed in the chain of title at the county recorder's office.
