7 year rule

Recommended Posts

I just got a letter from a debt recovery, the said it is from a sprint account that was charged off back in March of 1996. This account is not on my credit now and they are telling me they will report it if I dont pay it. My question is can they report something that was charged off 7 years ago because they just purchased the account from sprint?

Thanks

Legally, no. Doesn't mean they won't try.

They have commited a violation. They are threatening to take action that they are legally prohibited from taking. Send a validation letter with a C&D and tell them they are violating the law by threatening to report. That should be all there is to that.
