rahma70513
Hi, My GF got a Jury Summons, I guess after sending the debt validation to a CA. But she is not a US citizen and the summon letter says under Government code 62.102 she is disqualified. My question: what is this disqualifications exactly mean, is it good or bad for her and how she should respond? Thanks, Sam.
bw4444
The jury summons has nothing to do with the debt collector. It is a notice that your GF is to serve on jury duty. Being a foreigner, she is exempt from doing this. Usually a call to the courthouse can confirm this.
kimber6337
Were I she, I would go down to the court house and sit out the initial jury seating, in the begining the judge asks if there is anyone with a reason to be disqualified, she will then just go to the bench, show them her visa or what ever and be sent on her merry way.I would hate for her to get a warrant for her arrest for some lil screw up made at the court by someone NOT writing down that she had called in....it happens....Jury Duty is based on DL and/or voter registration, nothing to do with credit. k12503
here in FL there is a form that comes with the summons asking for any reason that you would be disqualified from serving. Not a US citizen is an option on the form or they give you a tel # to call or address to write to stating why you would be disqualified as a juror. Just adding my 2 cents. :)
