Anonymous
Hi,I am permanently disabled. I received a letter from an attorneys office in regard to a judgment which had been obtained against me. The letter said to inform them if I am receiving social security disability benefits and unable to pay. I am receiving these benefits but if a judgement has already been issued against me, what good would it do to tell the law firm representing my creditor? Are they just trying to be sneaky and find out where my income is coming from so they can try to take it?ThanksMike
bingo
No, SS income, disability income and, retirement income is exempt from seizure. They are trying to save themselves and you some time so they don't attach a bank account that is funded by exempt assets.
Anonymous
It is correct that your disability is exempt...My wife and I were sued and our only income is from SS Disability and Retirement....we consulted with an attorney on this.I do think that you need to let them know your income source....as they can and will request it through the court if you don't.
