vbullard
My best friend is a "jr." 15 years ago his father went bankrupt lost his business - got taken away by the IRS. Since he and his father have the same name except that my friend is the Jr. when credit searches are done his fathers info is pulled up. He has fought and fixed this for 15 years - he has gone to our State Congressman who said there are thousands of people with the same problem - consequently he can't get credit approval without a long drawn out ordeal - is there anything that can be done to fix this permanently? In the past the Big 3 have corrected the error only to have it return a few months later - Help Please
123rich
I would have to say that I would take them to court. Any judge would plainly see that it is not his. But my only question is, if it was 15 years ago then why is it even on his report? Or is everyting after that bk going on his report as well? vbullard
As I understand it his Father has outstanding obligations to the tune of $400,000.00 to the IRS - this gets reported on his credit report. He has fixed it several times and it converts back to wrong info. He was told by an attorney that he could change his name but it was likely within a few years it would reappear under the new name . . .is that true? kb9tbq
Want to be sure that you sever all relationships on the identifying info contained in the credit report.Past Names: need to be deleted.Old Addresses: need to be deleted. (Especially address that his father lived at). Need the correct Social Security number confirmed with the CRA - request to remove any incorrect SSNs showing on their side not belonging to him. (Especially Experian on this one). All creditors need to be updated as to his correct info on name & address. With request for a confirmation letter from them as well as their agreement to update the tapes sent in. The CRA can put a buffer in place to make sure the incorrect info does not get repulled in. Will take a bit of work on his part to make sure CRA are finally updated correctly.
