retmar
They did nothing wrong as it was sent to you directly. The billing office of all medical providers have access to that info. As long as they don't give it to just anyone, they are within their rights. When they bill your insurance, it is done by assigned code numbers that relate to a particular "care". Usually, when a medical provider receives their payment from the insurance, they will send you an itemized bill which will show everything, and I do mean everything, that pertains to your "care". These bills are for your benefit to assure that everything is proper as to diagnosis, services, equipment, etc., and to show exactly what your insurance did, including provider charges, write offs, and your cost share/co-pay. To clarify, if account goes to a CA, they do not get any personal info. They will get code numbers and amounts. I will agree that there might be a CA who can translate these numbers, but, they better hope they don't get caught. I hope this helps you.
