Domestication of a Judgement

Recommended Posts

Can someone tell me the procedure for domesticating a judgement?

I have a judgement from another state that was filed after I left. From what I've been told, the judgement can not be enforced unless it is domesticated to the current state I am living in.

Can anyone shed some light on this as far as what will happen and when, should they decide to domesticate this?

if i'm not mistaken they would have to find out where you live and sue you in that state. Look up the procedures for foreign judgements in the state you live in now, most states do accept foreign judgments but they do have to be domesticated, the procedure of course depends on the state itself.
