Anonymous
I recieved a validation re a bounced check that I paid in the past(they list it as a paid collection)They sent me a copy of the check and a letter stating that I was asking for information not required by law...in California. This was after the second letter. Should I send copies of this to the CRAsaying this debt was not validated or another letter to the CA.Thanks so much for your help
admin
That might be considered validation. Now the next method of attack is to see if they are able to collect in the state of California....
Anonymous
I checked Colorado and they are licenced there but I was wondering how I would find out if they are licenced to collect in California. I dont think a CA needs to be licensed here but hopefully a out of state company has to...any thoughts? Thanks in advance I am sorry if this is mentioned somewhere I couldn't find it... Anonymous
Thank you I think I'm out of luck. I guess I'll just keep disputing with the CRA's maybe I'll get lucky during the holidays.
ALF
PSGuy,I am having the same problem. The CA sent me a validation on the paid collection for the bounced check (only $63!!). I do not think that they are licensed to collect in PA where I now live. However, they keep verifying with the CRAs. This is about 5 years old now and it is very annoying!!A
Swede
Alf,Don't think PA requires licence http://www.directdebtcollections.com/state_list.htmlHave you tried to dispute with CRA and CA simultaneously?
ALF
Swede,I sure did do both at the same time. They validated by sending me a copy of the check which Kristy thought was adequate validation. Her next suggestion was to find out about any licensing requirements. Well, you are right about them not having to be licensed but the do have to be registered with the state of PA to conduct business in the state. They are not registered. For anyone that needs this info for PA, the search is located at http://corps.state.pa.us/gnsearch.phpThe general site is www.dos.state.pa.usHope that this helps,A
