Collection Agency opened investigation

I've run into something new with Risk Management Alternatives.

They did not respond to my first letter demanding validation, however 2 weeks after receiving my second letter they wrote back stating that they have opened an investigation into the complaint and will respond to my complaint when the investigation is complete.

Can they do this? Can I ask the CRA to remove the tradeline after 30 days? How do I handle this?

They can do this, however, the fact remains that they need to take this listing OFF of your credit report if they can't validate. Ignore this letter (but save it as proof that they got your request), and keep following the debt validation procedure.

Thank you so much for your quick answer. I just received a second letter from them stating that my balance is $0.00 and stating that they will notify the CRA that my account has been closed and returned to the creditor.

I think this mean I've won!?
