Hunter
I'm not sure if I am posting this in the correct category but here it goes... I have a judgement and a garnishment showing up on my CR's, from Sprint Cellular. I disputed with all the CR's, it has come back verified. It does not show up as paid and I did pay this (through the garnishment). According to the court's website, it is up to the plantiff/creditor to update the case with the court. Also through the website I was able to pull up the cases and get the case numbers and the lawyer's name (he is an independent lawyer). Who do I contact about getting this updated? The lawyer or sprint. This was from Jan 97 and July 97. I know I can't get the judgement of my CR's but I think it would look a little bit better on paper as paid. Thanks in advance for any advice. :ooh:
kimber6337
How did you dispute it, No Knowledge or Pail in Full?
Hunter
I disputed as paid in full. Didn't think there was anyway for the "not mine". According the the court's website, it isn't paid, so looks like they verified from what info they had. Should I just leave it alone? It should come off next year. It's just that this is paid and its also the principal of the matter. [Edit by Hunter on Saturday, December 21, 2002 @ 07:55 PM]
calawyer
In most states the form is called an "acknowledgment of satisfaction of judgment". Try searching your state's laws to see if the plaintiff is required to do so and what your remedy is if he/she does not.
Hunter
I am in VA and the website does state it is up to the Plantiff/Creditor. I called Sprint today (went through 4 people), they can't even pull my account because it is so old, I don't remember the cell number. The last lady I spoke to was very nice, she took my info and will call me tomorrow. She apologized for any trouble I was having and said everyone makes mistakes. Hopefully she will. I'm also going to call my old job (where the garnishment was) and see if I can some paperwork from them.
Hunter
First of all, thanks for all the advice. The judgement is from 1/97 and the garnishment is 7/97. The plantiff is listed as Sprint Corporation. The lady today said that they will not have my records because in 97, Sprint PCS was formed and all disconnected accounts were not carried over ( she confirmed the account wasn't for long distnace). I was hoping that some how this would come off. I will suggest what you said to her. Thanks again.

Hunter
Thanks KB! Since Sprint couldn't find it this weekend, I doubt they will be able to ever find it. How long should I wait before I dispute as not mine? (Original disputes were from November) Thanks again and happy holidays!
kimber6337
KB, do you know or have you seen that if someone tries to validate a judgement that has not been paid, that when the judgement is verified and the plantiff realises they have not recieved payment yet that they begin collection process on the jdugement? When you say plantiff do you call the parties representing attorney or the actual named in the suit?
