They called my mother upon request for validation?

Recommended Posts

A law firm that collects on medical collections kept calling me at work for $150.00. They ignored my dispute letters and filed on my credit reports anyway. I sent a validation request and they are now calling my mothers house. They left a long message on her answering machine as well.

Is it alright to send a cease and desist letter after the validation request in order for them not to harass my mother?

Faxed them C&D and will mail certified tommarow.

Bill collectors really should leave our MaMas' alone

What kind of law firm gets into collections in the first place? Are they regulated by the FTC as well?

Thanks again,

Sean

Yes. They're still bound by the FDCPA.

Crabis, the almighty US Supreme Court ruled in the case of Heintz v. Jenkins that debt collection attorneys are covered by the FDCPA. Check the link for the case.

I had one cuss out my mother about 6-7 years ago for refusing to tell him where my ex-husband is (she doesn't know).

He called back 5 or 6 times, and cussed her out every time. Never would tell her where he worked.

Too bad I didn't know then what I know now.
