Georgia
Hey all, I recieved a notice in my mailbox today that I have a letter at the post office that needs my signature for delivery. This came a week within me sending out some CA validation letters, and some CRA dispute letters. So, I think its from one of them...Should I pick up the letter??? I am hesitant to do so, in case its some new collection attempt or some other bad thing, I dont want to give them my sig and proof of delivery...Has anyone had anything like this happen? How do I proceed? Thanks, Georgia
smontoya5
It should say on the "call" tag the USPS left at your house who the sender is...If not, you could always go down to the post office and ask who is sending the letter. You aren't obligated to accept it- just tell them refuse it if it's from a CA.But, if it IS from a CA they could be writing to tell you they're deleting. OR they could have violated the FDCPA someway in said letter and now you have the documentation and the tracking number to prove it!
Georgia
would they send a letter stating they are deleting, with a signature request??
smontoya5
If they thought you were lawsuit crazy- I guess they could. But, chances are it's probably not good news. I'd find out who it's from before you accept it.
smogtek
Maybe I'm a little paranoid, but I'd have the post office person show it to me before I accepted it, then if I chose to accept delivery I'd sign it differently than my normal signature just to play it safe. sharpenu
Sign it. If you sent them a validation request and they are sending you anything bad without COMPLETE validation, they have violated
kimber6337
I've only had 1 CA respond to my CRRR validation request with a CRRR. I was actually quite impressed that they took the time to do that and do it right, since no others had. I would sign it, but sign it differently by dragging an extra line through your name somewhere. Georgia
kimber, when they sent you th CRRR , was it good news or bad news? Were they trying to collect or something?
Anonymous
Had a CA send me validation through CRRR. All they sent was a computer printout and they did fill out the paper I had sent.
kimber6337
Georgia,It was null news really. It was for a paid collection to a cable company for 54$. I had disputed the account directly with them and it was their reply that the account information was correct. I thought the account was only in my name and not hubbies too. I have not disputed the debt since then and may try a goodwill letter later in the spring. These guys seem to have the records straight <GASP LOL>. wert
You can always sign a different name. I've done that before and the post office has never questioned or asked for ID.
kimber6337
They usually ask for ID around here unless they catch you at your home, then you could sign Elmer Fudd and I don't think they would care LMAO
