Collection notice before validation????

Recommended Posts

I faxed a CA a validation letter on July 16, 2002. One 8/6/02 I

received a letter demanding payment for this account. I called

them and let them now they were in violation of the FCRA, and so on. Now on 8-9-02 they sent me a letter stating:

In response to the fax you sent to us and the specific request you have made, please assit us and provide additional identifying information. They ask for my Social Security number, previous address, and date of birth.

Is it my responsibility to provide them with this info? I thought it was thier responsibility to prove this to me?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Don't give them any of your personal information!! If the account is yours, they should already have that information. I would send them another validation letter and see what happens. In my opinion, it sounds like they may not be able to validate. If I wrong, someone can correct me, but please don't give them your personal information.

Are they high? They are reporting the information to the CRA's and now they want your help in validating it?? If they have enough info put a derogatory remark you're credit files, then they should have enough info to find that without your help. I would tell them to KMA and send a 15 day validation.

;):D I had to smile myself when I was reading picklesgirl's post, the little tricks they try to pull. I guess on a sad note, imagine the millions of people who haven't found this board and doesn't know their rights and get completely screwed by these bottom feeders
