Anonymous
I disputed an old bellsouth debt on 4/24 with RMA. Green card says they received 4/28. It was immediately listed as:Account Number: 3403XXXX Acct Type: Collection Account Acct Status: Open Monthly Payment: N/A Date Open: Jan, 2003 Balance: $754 Terms: N/A High Balance: N/A Limit: N/A Past Due: N/A Remarks: CONSUMER DISPUTES - REINVESTIGATION IN PROGRESSUnpaid Payment Status: UnpaidI got a disconnect notice from bellsouth on 5/5/03. I got nothing that even resembled debt validation. Pulled a new credit report today 5/18/03...it is now listed as the following:Account Number: 3403XXXX Acct Type: Collection Account Acct Status: Open Monthly Payment: N/A Date Open: Jan, 2003 Balance: $754 Terms: N/A High Balance: N/A Limit: N/A Past Due: N/A Remarks: N/AChecked Payment Status: Checked Questions:What exactly does "checked" mean? If this is the same as "verified" then they have violated the law since I have received no validation. 30 days won't be up intil 5/28/03. Should I wait before I send RMA a nasty letter describing their violation? Thanks for the help.BigDawg
sisflomi
Checked means that it has been disputed and they have "checked" it.
Ravenous Wolf
Send a copy of the crap that Bell South gave you to the CRAs along with a copy of the green card. Explain to the CRAs that BellSouth did not even come close to providing you with authentic proof that this debt does indeed belong to you. And this flimsy letter is the best that they can do. And also state that Bell South refuses to provide you with: • Copies of a signed contract or an instrument bearing my signature. • Documentation verifying that I did in fact have an outstanding balance from this account. • An explanation on how a calculation was made on what I purportedly owed. • An explanation of the procedures used to inform me of such an outstanding balance. Use whatever crap they send you against them. The CRAs love supporting documentation and that bogus letter you got is good proof demonstrating that BellSouth doesn't know what it is doing and cannot obtain legitimate proof that this debt belongs to you...
