Payment for Deletion declined

I recently sent a Payment for Deletion Letter to a CA for some medical debts that were returned "NOT accepted". They told me I needed to call them at their 800 number(no way I'll do that).I was willing to pay the debts for the full $189.56. They are currently unreported, but I was told by one of their people that two of them were in the process of being reported to all three CRA's. I can't understand why the CA would'nt want to settle with me. Can someone please explain. Also, what's the next step? I can't HIPPA the OC, as I've already spoken with the CA(dumb idea in the first place). I could call the OC(major blood lab) and see if they could get the CA to comply, but I don't know if that's a good strategy at this point.

I had the same thing happen to me at about the same time I found this message board.

Here is what I did:

After they declined to remove for full payment, I sent a DV letter. Then a few days later, I sent another letter saying basically that I was reasearching the debt as well so that I could be prepared to verify the information I requested from them in the validation letter and that I was requesting that they reconsider my offer and accept payment in full for removal. They responded again with a nasty letter refusing and threatening a lawsuit etc. and demanding I cease communication with them. So, I waited the 30 days for validation and they never sent it so I filed complaints with the FTC, state attorney general, and the BBB. In all 3 complaints, I made sure to include all the information about how I tried to convey my willingness to settle this debt that had not been validated and didn't even know if it was legit or not etc just to stop them from harming my credit anymore etc. Then about a week later, poof, the two accounts (from the same CA) were gone from all 3 CRAs and I didn't have to pay anything.

This worked well for me as I really don't know that the debt is valid or not. I also can't seem to find any contact info for who they claim the OC to be (as reported on the credit reports). I searched the phone book, Internet, and BBB listings etc and can't find the company anywhere. But maybe will work for you as well. Most likely they will accept the payment etc instead of messing with the validation etc. It will also help if you have to try to go to the OC and request they recall it from the CA for being uncooperative etc

Good Luck

Wow, I'm really impressed. Good lesson in persistance. But why were you willing to settle if the OC was questionable? e I guess you were just learning the ropes at that point.

I think I'm going to send the DV and see what happens. Like you said, they'll proably be willing to settle rather than deal with the validation. But what is their motivation in dragging things out? I thought the CA's want money, not paperwork.

At first I was willing to pay just to get the stupid accounts off my report (and also a little bit of inexperience). Together both accounts together totaled only around $160 so to me it was worth it just to pay to get them off. I also didn't pay much attention to the OC. It was for a mediacal bill and the name looked legit enough so I didn't give it much attention. I only noticed that I couldn't find any information for them when I was about to try to contact them directly to ask them to deal directly with me because the CA was being such a jerk and uncooperative. That's when I got really ticked off and decided to really fight it instead of just paying for the problem to go away :)

Did they have a signatue, both sides, with the terms on them, or were they just a computer printout?????

I'm also dealing with some medical bills, small ones but they are trying to charge me for 2 bills.
