Anonymous
I openned an account with Dell(for a computer) to improve my credit, etc. Since I was approved they have never put an inquiry nor reported my account to any of the cra's. I was wondering if anyone else has an account with them and if this was the case. I guess its good that they are not reporting it.
Swede
Why is that good? That does nothing for you.
Anonymous
Well I was thinking it was good for onethere is no inquiry, two the debt is not showing up. If it was listed at this time it would show available credit as 50%.. I though it hurt you unless it was under 35% ?
Swede
It's true that the balance/credit limit adds to your score but as you pay it off, on time of course, it also won't show that. Scores are a mix of many different factors, not only balance/limit. You said you applied for credit to improve your credit, if they're not reporting it at all, it will never help your score. I think that you might be able to call them once your balance is lower, I rememeber reading about Dell on creditnet and I do believe they normally report to CRA's. Right now you're fine, but as your balance goes down and payments are on time, you should try to get it on ur report. ghacorp
Did you get the computer? Dell uses CIT as their lender, called Quickloan with a standard APR of 12.99%. They should have done an inquiry prior to purchase and report payment activity regularly. If they are not, insist that they do so.

hamletsdead
I think it only shows up if you actually use the credit line they grant you, and buy Dell products. If it's just sitting there and you're approved but have not yet purchased anything that would require use of the credit, nothing gets reported. Confirmation, anyone?
