Anonymous
O.K. guys, I'm new here and this is my situation:Experian was reporting alot of accounts on my credit but under a social security # other than my own, I disputed the accts, the ss#'s as well as sent to experian a copy of my cdl, ss card and the original certified print out that came directly from the social security administration which shows your legal name, any names you have ever used (married etc...) date of birth, it also reflects whatever parental info that s on your birth certificate and requested they delete any ss#that did not belong to me as well as the accts associated with these ss#'s. They sent me an updated report....the other ss#'s were deleted but there was a statement that said "social securiy number variations"---I didn't realize it was there until I called to re-dispute an item that was under another ss#, the csr told me that the acct vas verified and it was being reported correctly, I told her that it couldn't be because I called the company to investigate the acct and they could not pull up any info for the acct w/my ss#---the csr rep then put me on hold & when she came back said it was a "variation of my ss#". I told the csr that I sent in all the info they needed to determine what should actually be on "my" report, she then told me they could not take the item off/or re-investigate, & I had to call the oc. Can I sue now???? I told them I would!!! (whew!!!!)
admin
I would - this sounds like reckless disregard for your integrity and credit. "Reckless disregard" is lawyer slang for "you payem big money".
Anonymous
Well, today, a supervisor called me and told me that the notes she had in regards to my credit file and the info I sent to them said "consumer sent in info stating she changed her name and she has a new ss#", I told her no, you can't get your ss# changed, maybe your ID# but not your ss#---she then told me yes you can(but I know it's illegal)--then proceeded to ask me if I had ever used another name or been married, and if I had ever used another ss# or changed one of the digits in my ss#, of course I told her no, why would I send in info to confirm something like a name change and with that same info request that you delete that same info because it's inaccurat? So now sh is going to look into it(of course this is the same person that I left the voice mail on and said I was going to sue!)----I'm calling the attorney tomorrow! admin
No matter what the supervisor says (she's probably making about $12/hr remember), you have a clear case of their reckless disregard for your credit when you have clear proof. I'd file a suit against them in court ASAP. You seem to be getting no where on the phone, a lawsuit will get them to take notice.
