Inquiry on Experian

I called Experian to have incorrect names removed from CR and while on the phone asked rep about a hard inquiry on my file (from Asset Acceptance Corp, collections purposes). She said I couldn't remove it. The account is not on my report and I asker her why. She said they (AAC) was not able to validate correct dates, so Experian removed it. How can they validate a inquiry if they can not validate the debt? BTW, I recently received a "settlement letter" on this account, the SOL is way gone and I believe the 7 year mark is up in Jan or Feb. I sent a validation letter to AAC, of course no response. This inquiry is scheduled to be on my report until May 04. What do I do?

Also, this forum is the best. It's easy to read and everyone is so helpful. It's nice to know there are nice people out there ;-) Thanks!!!!

I'm running into this same thing. In addition to inquiries I don't recognize at all and aren't associated with any applications or collection activity, there are some that I *do* recognize, but were placed by debt collectors going after unvalidated debt which has long-since been removed, and for which the SOL was up 3 years ago. The CRA's refuse to remove them, claiming that if I feel these places had no permissible purpose, I have to contact them individually. I've sent my latest (and hopefully final) batch of letters to explain what will happen if they continue to violate the law (a lawsuit). I've been putting off suing and putting it off, but they're not budging at all. From what I've read here, and in the FCRA, it says absolutely nothing to give the impression that their investigations are limited to tradeline entries only. Inquiries hurt a credit score, and I have seen nothing in the law that says "yeah, unauthorized enquries are damaging, but a CRA is excempt from doing anything about them."
