Our daughter got this back today from TU:

"We are in receipt of the additional information regarding your current dispute (s). Due to this additional information, the time frame for completing the investigation has been extended. Your initial correspondence was received on 12/05/2002 and your additional information was received on 12/06/2002, which allows TransUnion fifteen additional days. Therefore, your investigation will be completed on or before 01/17/2003."

We DID NOT SEND additional information. What do we do now? Do we send them a letter telling them so? They didn't even say which dispute(s) they are referring to. Or, do we let the 30 days expire and then contact them?

PLEASE ADVISE - oops! sorry I'm yelling. :notsure:

OMG....... DH got one of those, too. Said his initial correspondence was received 11/26 and new information on 12/3.

CHOD disputes were what they received on 12/3. I have no idea what they're referring to receiving on 11/26.

Personally, I plan on sending them a nastygram on 1/3 saying "You didn't verify, I didn't send additional info, DELETE NOW."

Unless of course, I get better advice from someone ;)

I was also sent a similar letter.

Background -- I sent TU several disputes on 1 day. Each via Cert Mail in separate envelopes. Then a week later sent 4 separate disputes in one envelope. Each letter "stood alone" and included a complete set of documents. None of the dispute letters mention anything contained on any other letters. (Similar tactic used with the other CRAs).

Anyway, TU said they rec'd new info, and added 15 days to their original due date. I immediately wrote them back telling them they were confused. I also pointed out that their receipt dates did not match the USPS green cards. Quoted the FCRA to them, and said since I cannot waive my rights under Federal law, they have to correct their info. Also notified them that since I was not now providing anything new (the info is already in their system) they cannot take this letter as "new info from the Consumer."

Heard nothing back, but then, we've been keeping them busy.

Call em up and ask what additional information they got from you. They won't be able to tell you because they don't have it. I'd prolly ask for a manager directly and not deal w. the regular initial rep.
