Hunter
I noticed on my EQ CR, that an old car loan still showed open with a balance and past due amount. I disputed with EQ and it came back verified (with a new DOLA, was 12/96, now 6/97). I then called the OC and they faxed me a letter stating the date and amount of payoff (Jan. 97). I faxed EQ a dispute letter with the letter from the OC and a copy of the check I sent them. Today I received my updated CR, they fixed the balance and past due amount but, not the DOLA. Am I wrong in thinking that it should be Jan 97? I am in the process of writing another letter to send EQ, but I don't want to look stupid if June 97 is correct. Thanks everyone and happy new year!! Oh, and it goes to show how "great" that verification process works! Hunter
Hunter
Thanks for the response Pammila. Actually I do want to get rid of it. It has quite a few lates on it (that they updated too, nice of them). I have spoken to the OC again, the rep said that I was right, the DOLA was Jan 97, but to have it corrected I need to conact their rreserach department and they may be able to fix it. It just seems with the proof, there shouldn't be any questions. Is there anything special I should include in the letter? Thanks!
Jackal
Oh yeah, sure, and sit on hold for five hours for the research department.

Pammila is right that you would want it to remain if it is not negative. You've already tried disputing it, so I would go this way now.
kimber6337
And you can also try disputing with Never Paid Late. The lates might fall off and bring the account into good standing, but I've also heard of the whole tradeline being delted..so its a 50/50 shot. Hunter
I am going to wait until I get the results from my current disputes and try the never late. Thanks everyone for the responses!
