Anonymous
I've recently heard of this little trick, and wondered if it would work. My husband doesn't have good credit, but we have been working to get all the negatives deleted off his file. He's left with only a few negatives, but very little history. I have great credit. So, the trick I've heard is for us to merge our credit files, which would give his slightly blemished file lots of good history. Then, wait a month or two, and I should request to be separated from his file, which would remove his information from my file, leaving mine the same as before we merged. However, my good history would still be on his file, since he hasn't requested to be separated from me. Would this work? What negative consequences could come from it? Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks,Elle

Then he'll get your history with those cards added into his and it can only help him. No risk to you.
Anonymous
Yeah, it does sound like it could be a risky way of building better credit for him. I definitely wasn't convinced this was a smart way to go. I just wanted to throw out the idea and see what people thought about it. From the responses I've seen, I don't think we'll be trying it.Thanks for the advice and opinions.
