tange1
Hi!!!I read somewhere that certain CA's would photocopy signatures off ofvalidation letters and post them to documents to get validation of debts(not to be paranoid)but is it a good idea to sign validation letters(I've read specifically Gulf State,NCO were guilty of this)??????????????Food for thought
admin
Yep, I've heard the same thing, some one posted an incident of this here...
tange1
Interesting enough I just found out that in April 2002 NCO had their membership in the BBB revoked by the Board of Directors of the BBB because they"failed to maintain the principles and standards required for membership".Well that sure says alot about them(ouch)!!! Anonymous
About that.... You know, I just sent validation letters out and at the last second I chose not to sign them. Will this be a problem or did I just prevent a slimy CA from screwing me?
ALF
I just sent a validation out with my signature on it to a CA that verified a 5-yr old collection account with Experian. I hope that that wasn't a mistake. It was for a bounced check (which is another long story), so it'll be interesting to see if and how they validate it! frencheese
i think if you keep copies of your signatures you'd be safe. obviously it would be impossible to sign two different documents the EXACT same way. so i think if they stole your signature you could go through the letters they sent you and find the copy. it would be pretty easy to show in court that they were exact copies, you wouldn't even need a lab. just a couple of transparencies and an overhead projector.briana
jordanmorganusa
I've never signed a validation letter or anything else that I've sent out and haven't had any problems. With the lies and deception I have experiences with CAs, I don't put anything past them. I don't like feeling that way about them, but when it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck and looks like a duck, it sure the heck ain't a squirrel! I wouldn't worry about it, but I wouldn't sign them anymore, either.
