highflyer40
HelloHoping to get a removal, I disputed a chargeoff with Equifax based on that they didnt have the correct dates listed in the payment history. I asked them to provide accurate reporting or delete the entry. Well, they deleted the payment history but kept the chargeoff account listed. In looking over the FCRA it seems they are able to do this and I am out of luck. Am I correct? On a side note...I remember disputing a late pay with a good tradeline at TransUnion and they deleted the whole account! Thanks for any inputHF40
admin
Interesting - I'm not sure that I know what you mean by that - how did the account listing change/now appear.
highflyer40
They had the previous payment history for this account listed. Such as..30 days 1 time late; 2 times 60 days late...etc. When I checked the online version of this entry, they were listing one 60 date as "unknown date" and two 90 day listings as "unknown date" So that was my dispute...how could they know if I was late if the date was "unknown" Now they have the account listed as Charged off. With no prior payment history listed. Their responce to the dispute was.."The prior paying history has been deleted from this account.Additional information has been provided from the original source regarding this item"Should the prior payment history be listed on a charged off account? Thanks for the replyHF40
highflyer40
Also...There is no additional information listed on this account. As their letter states.
admin
No, generally when an account is charged off, they don't list prior paying history, as the charge off is what "counts" in your credit score. Sorry. And thanks for the clarification.
Anonymous
try to dispute with the cra about the date open even if it is correct, some times if they can't verify it in time they will delete the whole listing, it worked for me...good luck!
