Give a sec, the only way I know of to speed up a reply on their end is to tell them your dispute is in regards to applying for a mortgage loan, that you need a rush on the processing.

Only angle I can even think of to move them faster - still no guarentee though.

No no no, this is absolutely incorrect and totally violating the FCRA which is VERY specific on when the 30 days start and under what circumstances it can be extended.

§ 611. Procedure in case of disputed accuracy [15 U.S.C. § 1681i]

(a) Reinvestigations of disputed information.

(B) Extension of period to reinvestigate. Except as provided in subparagraph ©, the 30-day period described in subparagraph (A) may be extended for not more than 15 additional days if the consumer reporting agency receives information from the consumer during that 30-day period that is relevant to the reinvestigation.

TU is notorious for doing this to people. You send in seperate dispute in seperate letters and they treat them as "addional information" in order to extend the investigation. As the FCRA reads, IF IT'S RELEVANT to the reinvestigation.

When the 30 days are up and it's still on there, I'd send a letter with an intent to file complaints and potentially suit if not removed IMMEDIATELY as the time's up. I hope you kept copies and sent CMRRR.

I recieved another letter today from TU this is exactly what it says:

Thank you for contacting TransUnion. Our goal is to mainain complete and accurate information on your credit report. We have provided the information below in response to your request.

Re: Addition Dispute Information

We are in receipt of the additional information regarding your curren dispute (s). Due to this additional information, the time fram for comleting the investigation has been extended. Yourinitial correspondence was received on 01/27/2003, and your additional information was received on 01/29/2003, which allows TransUnion fifteen additional days. Therfore, your investigation will be completed on or before 03/11/2003.

If you have any additional question or concerns, please contact TransUnion at the address shown below, or visit us on the web at bla bla bla...

And thats it, 1 letter. I sent them 4 disputes on 2 different days, all disputes for different accounts. Can they do that? Swede would that be considered relevant to the reinvestigation? I only sent 1 dispute per account and I sent no additional info about the same accounts.

Thanx....

That's exactly what I was referring to and no, that's totally against the Act. It specifically states that the information must be relevant to the reinvestigation and since they're all different account- it's absolutely impossible for it to be relevant. What in the world does your Sears account has to do with your MCI collection (just an example).
