Anonymous
I just feel like screaming after getting off the phone with Equifax. I have a collection from "credit collections of america" supposedly for a medical bill from 1999. When I got my credit report back in June 2002 there is was. I never got a bill nor a letter from this collection agency. When I contacted them they said they would mail me proof that it was mine. Well stupid me gave my address for them to mail it. I have lived at this address much longer than the date of when this bill is from.. anyway.. they should of had my address.. so now the problem is.. I have disputed with equifax a bunch of times since and they just show it as disputed. I called today and the rep said .. all they do when you dispute as "not mine" is verify the name, address and social . So that is why they aren't taken it off. Because the collection agency has that info. The collection agency won't answer my validation requests and equifax says they don't have to provide me with proof of the verification. anybody got any idea ? (It is now a verb in these parts!) If so, send a demand letter to have CRA delete and show a copy of the corespondence request and CMRR receipt as proof. You may even hint at legal ramifications for failure to act. There are lots of threads on this board dealing with just this all to often scenario.Good Luck
Anonymous
I have sent the copies of the letters and returned cards to the cra.. they won't budge. If you say its not yours.. the only thing they do is verify the name address and social. Does anyone have a copy of a letter to send to the doctor's office and not the collection agency. The collection agency won't give me the info. I have never gone to this doctor .. so I don't have it. ??? Any help would be appreciated
bingo
If this is not your debt, I'd wouldn't hint about suing. SUE 'Em!Start reading the FDCPA and the FCRA and look for a consumer lawyer in your town. www.naca.net may be a start.
