I need help with Experian!

Recommended Posts

8 years ago our car caught fire and the insurance pymt left us with a 3500 balance. Pymts were set up and paid for over 2 years until one day we received a letter saying they no longer serviced our loan and returned our pymt. During this two year period they continued to report to the bureaus that we had never made a pymt on the car although we were never even late. Phone calls were never returned and correspondence was never answered. As of today we have finally been able to dispute it enough to get it removed from 2 credit bureaus yet experian continues to report it. It has been 8 years and I have canceled checks yet I cannot get them to take it off. Somehow they seem to be able to "verify" it with the company even though the number for the creditor on the report is now some modeling agency in Texas. We have sent letters and our lawyer sent a letter with the copies of canceled checks and still cannot get a reply from the creditor. Have sent copies of caneled checks to Experian yet they claim that the creditor verified the debt so they wont remove. What do I do? We are trying to get a home loan and this is really hurting our score.

Any help I can get is greatly appreciated.

Have you tried contacting this other company in Texas? Are they reflecting the Original Creditor in the tradeline on the credit report? Is there a tradeline for the OC still on the credit report?

the address on the credit report is the same one that we originally sent pymts to. All the letters and a letter from our lawyer was sent to this address but they never replied. The phone number is just a recording for a modeling agency and none of our messages have been returned. The company seems to be out of business but I cant understand how they can still be reporting to the credit bureau...last report was last month but only to experian. I'm at a complete loss. I disputed again on friday...who knows what will happen

Do you still have the original documentation they sent you about the account no longer being serviced?

If so I would put the CRA on notice that this company is no longer in business; that all efforts to contact them go unanswered. This account should not remain on your credit report. Besides the fact that you had paid the account as agreed. It is not your fault they refused payment & are no longer contactable to resolve the matter. You kept your side of the deal - but can't be expected to suffer for the way they do business.
