Help with Experian

Recommended Posts

I am working on getting an AU account off of my credit report with EXP. I have attempted to dispute as not mine but it was verified. I have also attempted to call twice and they would only reinvestigate. Recently, I wrote a letter to the OC asking to have the account removed since it is not mine. When the OC originally verified the account they changed it to a $0 balance(was showing $868) and showed purchased by another lender on 7/2002 but also updated saying "was past due $868 as of 3/2003" (this dropped my faco score 11 points). When I called, I asked how this could be possible since it was clearly showing sold to another lender in 7/2002 so it couldn't be past due as of 3/2003. They wouldn't delete just said would reinvestigate since I was stating the $$$ was incorrect. I looked at my report today and they are still showing it in dispute but they have taken the "was past due $868 as of 3/2003" off. I faxed them last night demanding that it be removed completely since it is not my account. Any other suggestions on getting it removed? :notsure: I sent letter to OC about 2 weeks ago and haven't heard anything but I'm not sure how long this normally takes.

Sorry to be so long winded!!!

Well, I decided to give Evil EXP a call again. After getting nowhere with the cust svc rep I asked for supervisor. Boy, it was like pulling teeth to get to the supervisor. After explaining the situation, he stated there was nothing they could do. I asked for the procedures and he stated that they sent the address of the oc and I would have to contact them directly. I said that I am allowed to know how this was verified and he stated that they have given me the name of the oc and the address and it is up to me to get the phone number. I asked for the name of the individual they verified with so I could speak directly to that person and he said they just send to a department not an individual. He said that if I wanted to actual documents that I would have to have them subpoenaed. Now what?? I have attempted the oc but haven't gotten a response yet. I'm so mad I could just scream

Any suggestions are appreciated!!

What you are doing is good. Escalate the problem so they

keep hearing about it. No other bureau is playing the

game experian is playing. If accurate information is

verifiable, they provide you with a phone number and

a contact person, not experian. This is outrageous!

I have only noticed this the last couple of months.

If no one says anything it will continue. I contacted an

attorney who agreed, however sometimes it takes a class action

law suit to make them comply. Something has to be done about

this.

</blockquote>I agree with you! From the looks of things on this board there are quite a few people having trouble with them. It sure gets frustrating.

They wouldn't even give me a phone number for the oc. He stated that all they need to give me is the address that they sent the dispute to because they do not contact them by phone so they do not get a phone number. He suggested that I get on the internet and do a search for it. He was polite but worthless!!

I am absolutely furious about this. It is illeagal what

they are doing. You have the right to a phone number and

contact person who verified the information. It is a second

source that proves it is in fact accurate. Either they are

giving some serious money to congress or they think consumers

are ignorant.
