Recommended Posts

I disputed credit limits and equifax removed the accts. Do you think they will get reported again??? I didn't want them removed just corrected. Also, they deleted inquires that I requested. This is the first time that they ever deleted inquires for me... I must of gotten someone good this time.. LOL

Hey cape, my DH asked a question and I didnt know how to answer, maybe you could help...he seems to think if we dispute a current account and it ends up getting deleted all together, its gone for good.

I told him just because the CRA delete it, doesnt mean that its gone, we are still going to owe, and it could very well go to a CA if it goes unpaid.

But, my question is, if the CRA does delete a current account, and the OC ends up putting it back on, the CRA has to notify me if putting it back in, right? And if they dont then its gone for good and cant be added again?

What do you think, and should I smack my DH upside the head? Just because.

Yes it can be added back on to your CR if it is current!

Smack, Bam...{{{{Ouch}}}}}...

Sorry DH!

They are suposed to notify you within 5 days of re-adding it on to your CR. If they don't, they are suppose to delete it for good. But I'm not exactly sure if this actually works. Maybe others who have had experience with this situation could help. I know what they are supposed to do, it dosen't mean that they do it!

I didn't have any negative tradelines. The three accounts have never been late. .but they were not reporting the credit limit correct.. therefore making my score lower.. So I disputed the credit limit was wrong.. and they deleted. So it won't come back on automatically when they update each month ? I have to contact the credit card co???

You might wait a month or two; but if you don't see it added back. You will have to contact the original creditor and see if they can get it added back on. This is not always possible though; if they no longer have the account information active in their files they won't be able to. Have to be so careful with disputing things of this nature.

In most cases dispute with the original creditor first; pointing out to them the error and asking them to update from their side. Or at the least giving you a confirmation letter relating the facts of the matter so you can forward to the CRAs.

This is a policy that varies from creditor to creditor if they will assist you in updating the CRAs. Some companies don't have or put aside the manpower to corrdinate corrections being made & find it so much simpler to respond to the CRA then to initiate contact with the CRA.

We service 20 counties here; & I know for a fact that a lot of our customers don't even realize they can contact the CRAs on the consumers behalf to make corrections. It is high maintenance on our part trying to keep the personel of these companies educated on what is doable.

Don't help when the CRA changes the rules all the time. Still it is always worth a try to see what they can & can't do. If they are not able to accomidate you; then tell them a confirmation letter on their part mailed out to you will surfice (then you can just forward this letter to the CRA with instructions for what needs to be corrected).
