EQUIFAX obsolete credit info?

Recommended Posts

I have not had made any credit related transactions (nor payed any debts has, roughly 4000 dollarsfor 8 years ,i.e. ever since I left Canada for Europe). Does that make it possible equifax has absolutely no data, no file for me anymore? that is,could it be that everything has been erased?Do I have to apply for credit in order to "create" a file again?

I'm drifting a little bit OT here but my "anchor" TL is an Amex account I opened in 1981 and closed in good standing in 1986. It's still there ! Usually at the top of my positive scoring reasons is that I have a LONG credit history of 22+ years.

Makes a good case for being careful how you dispute and not end up getting good OLD TLs deleted !

Negative tradelines will stay 7 years; unless it is a chapter 10 BK (then 10 years) or tax lein which may remain forever if unpaid verses 7 years if paid.

Positive tradelines will stay 10 years. TransUnion is the exception - they may leave on forever.

Well, I talked to Equifax, they can not even find my name in their database. Isn't this weird?

Well if you have not had any established credit since then; this will be normal.

You have a clean slate to start over again on the reporting side. You won't have a credit score either until you can get back in the game establishing new credit so that creditors can start reporting on you.

By the same reasoning

1. I could assume there is no defauly judgement against me, right?

2. should there be a judgement, wouldn't it have to appear in all three major credit bureaus?

Possibly; if you know for a fact that the SOL for the judgement would have been less than the 7 years it would take to expire off of the credit report.

We need confirmation on what SOL is for a Canada Judgment is to know for sure.
